It’s the penultimate day of my street style handbag hunt in association with Kenco Millicano – pace yourselves! So far, I’ve looked at things like quirky bags, classic bags and designer handbags but today I decided to set myself a size challenge. Following the successful launch of Kenco Millicano last year, they have now introduced stick packs; individual handbag sized packs so coffee lovers can enjoy delicious Kenco Millicano wherever and whenever they want. I hit the streets of trendy Manchester to get inspiration from ladies with small, compact handbags which the stick packs could fit neatly into!
DAY 6 – Looking For Small Handbags Near The Lowry Hotel
If you’ve got a nice outfit on then you don’t want a big bag ruining the shape of your look. Struggling with a suitcase sized handbag every day is so un-VIP! Small handbags signify luxury, as important people only need to carry essential items. The gallery above is full of the best five small bags that I found in the area of one of Manchester’s most exclusive hotels, The Lowry. One of my personal favourites was a brown and black handbag with a simple buckle. Less is officially more!
Buckles were a popular accessory on small handbags – I also adored a small black handbag with grey buckles.
Women with small bags change their bags less often than ladies with larger handbags. This lady has had her bag for 3 years and it still looks sensational.
On average, women with small bags have each had them for more than 12 months. This is a difference from the ladies I met carrying quirky handbags, who swap handbags at least once every 6 months. As most small handbags are made from brown or black leather rather than floral or swirl prints, they don’t come in or out of fashion so girls don’t need to change them as much.

I’m really enjoying searching the streets of Manchester to find hot handbags in association with Kenco Millicano and I hope you’re enjoying seeing how other women co-ordinate their outfits with beautiful bags. Kenco Millicano, the delicious instant coffee is a luxury that all coffee lovers can enjoy. Kenco’s been making coffee since the 1920s and one thing’s been consistent – it tastes rich and delicious. One of my missions, therefore, is to find handbags that are also classic and timeless – a luxury that all women desire. It fits in with the theme of Living Like A VIP because we’d all rather invest in a few bags that last us for ages than spend money on trendy bags that date and go out of fashion within months.
DAY 5 – Looking For Classic Handbags Around The Northern Quarter
The Northern Quarter has long been known as the ‘creative quarter’ of Manchester – the home of many fashion designers, creative agencies, art galleries and quirky retailers. The ladies around these parts tend to be clever enough to ignore trends and pick clothes that suit them, making their own style statements rather than following the crowds. They do the same with their bags too, as you can see from the gallery above. I particularly liked this brown satchel – it’s gorgeous now and can only improve with age.
A black bag with a classic square shape also stood out. I think it transcends fashion as it’s so elegant.
Women with classic bags tend to be very good at clearing them out, maybe because they want to look after their possessions. 80% of classic bag owners clear them out every week and 100% clear them out every fortnight. Just like you wouldn’t see Mariah Carey or Madonna walking around looking scruffy, it seems lots of women in Manchester have their priorities right, clearing out the disposal items so what’s important stays pristine.
